Lacey has had quite a long day today. However, she was able to get into a chair at the side of the bed twice; for about 10 min the first time and about 22 minutes the second time.(yes we were timing because every minute is brutal for her and it counts!) She impressed us all with her desire to push through the pains and strive to get better. However, she continues to suffer greatly from pain and discomfort. She still has the tube in her nose, drainage tube from her wound and from her bladder, as well as a line in her neck for iv therapy. She also has an o2 monitor, cardiac monitor, and air compression to her feet, so you can see how tied down she must feel and how hard is must be to move, muchless get up and walk. None the less, God is keeping her encouraged and her desire to heal hasn't changed. She did tell me tonight that she couldn't continue to bear the pains and i know she hasn't slept in 48 hours now for more than 30 minutes at a time. With such a serious surgery, medical staff are checking on her hourly or more and between those times, she's having pains that prevent her from resting adequately. Lacey needs continued grace and mercy from God and she is so tired from over 6 weeks of struggling now. However i must say, we are nearing the end of this suffering and progress can be noted. Even on the times when she's stood, her legs are stronger than even before the surgery. I'm not sure how to comprehend how someone could lay in bed 5 weeks, have terribly weak legs, have an abdominal surgery of 12 hours, then wake up in two days stronger than in 5 weeks. That is God's mercy! We are seeing more of His mercy daily and it is new every morning. The doctors did come by this evening around 6 and increased Lacey's pain meds once again. Her pain hasn't gotten less than a 7 out of 10 since the surgery and once again, if you know lacey, you know that is great pains. They also ordered a new nausea med that i'm not terribly familiar with but it has made her very restful since about 7pm. We are thankful and hope she has a better night of rest. Testimonials tell us that things progressively get better after the first 24 hours so we are hopeful. Lacey has be so blessed because there is a young lady who had the surgery about 10 months ago, that actually got to sit in the operating room for lacey's surgery. she has also been by to visit lacey several times in the past few days. Her name is merita and she has great success with the surgery and she has been a great encougament for lacey. God has placed many many special people in our paths as we endured this suffering. We even got a visit from the dear Christian lady doctor who took care of lacey on thursday in the Er after the scare we had on the flight. She even prayed with lacey and i and encouraged us that things would get better. We are hopeful that possibly tomorrow lacey can get up in chair just a brief few minutes longer than today and maybe even walk a few more steps. there is even a small opportunity that doctors may remove the cathether in her bladder or maybe even remove the tube from her nose. Removal of any tubes would be progress for sure and would increase lacey's comfort. Pray that lacey will have a better day tomorrow and that people around the country and around the globe will continue to see God's grace and mercy in our lives. I pray that through this situation and perhaps even through our presentation of God's blessings on us in this blog, God may be pleased to reveal himself to someone and by his marvelous grace, draw someone into a relationship with Himself through Christ. May God bless all who read this blog, for we are thankful for the support of all.
Great News!! We are thinking of Lacey and wishing her the best.
