i'm gonna try to keep the blog updated very often today as soon as we hear updates from the doctor. God has been wonderful to us. Lacey had a much better night last night..probably the best night she's had in over a month. She rested well and we slept in the hospital bed together. It was good for the both of us. After we got her clean last night, we were able to fix her hair and dry it and straigten in by midnight. After that she went to sleep and slept all night til the surgery staff woke us up this morning at 6. I know it is the peace of God that passes all understanding that is guarding her heart and mind. It baffles me to think of how she could rest so well the night before a 12 or more hour surgery that will change the rest of her life. I am so thankful she rested!
Her hopes and spirits were soaring this morning and the surgeon came by to see us in the pre surgical suite. In Lacey's surgery today, there will be a medical student observing that actually had the surgery 10 months ago. She spoke to Lacey prior to the surgery and brought us all to tears. The young lady said she was exercising 3 months after her surgery and now 10 months later, she's in medical school. She told Lacey that if she could, she'd climb on the mountain top and yell to everyone how great the surgery was. Lacey was soaring spiritually and emotionally as the surgery team rolled her out the door. The last words she said as she rounded the corner into the surgery department were "To GOD Be The Glory!" What a joy it was for us, her family, to hear her constantly praising God even through suffering. We are blessed.
One more small area of interest: Lacey asked Dr. Sutherland to take a picture of her pancreas with his phone. She asked the doctor to stick a knife through the pancreas and take a picture of it..ha. He agreed so we'll look forward to seeing that.
God has been good to us. God's providences in our lives are too numerous to count. It's now 821 and we've not heard any news. I'm assuming she's asleep and the surgery is being done. They will probably not call or talk to us until the pancreas, spleen, and appendix are gone. May be around 11 or 12 but i'll let everyone know soon. Please pray for us continually! God is amazing, and the glory is and will be His!
