Post Opt Day 3

Well we've made it through the third full day after surgery and Lacey has progressed every day. She was in alot of pain this evening and couldn't seem to get comfortable in bed so she decided to just get up and walk. We were skeptical but she wasn't. We got up and she walked about 35 feet then sat in a high backed chair for about 30 minutes and the pain seemed to decrease somewhat. She began to have pains again after awhile and we got her back to bed. That makes 3 walks today!! We are so proud and it feels great to see her making progress after the many weeks of struggles. She's still got a long long way to go before she's back to normal life again, but everyday is closer. She had a good night last night and we are hoping for the same tonight. All tubes and lines remain attached and we are hoping tomorrow will come with the removal of at least one tube. Doctors say we've still got 7 to 10 days left here in the hospital if all continues to go well, then we'll have a week or so to remain in Minnesota to make sure there's no other problems after she begins to eat. We are all so ready to get back home and get back to our life and church and families, but we are so excited about the progress she's made.

"We do not, perhaps, as yet, receive, or even perceive, the present and immediate benefit of some of our afflictions. There may be no immediate benefit; the benefit may be far hence and to come. The chastening of our youth may be intended for the ripening of our age. “It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.” The affliction of to-day may have no reference to the circumstances of to-day, but to the circumstances of fifty years ahead." -
