All Done - In Her Room..finally

Lacey finally made it to her room around 1100pm. She looked very sick but i must say she looked better than i expected. She has lines and tubes everywhere and is in lots and lots of pain. These nurses here are pros at taking care of pain and Lacey has been kept somewhat under control. She is having back pain (as any of us would after 12 hours on a 3 foot wide stanless table), she is also having abdominal pain and lots of tightness to her back and abdomen. However, she says NO PANCREAS PAIN!!! We are so thankful. The nurses will monitor her blood sugar every hour and adjust the insulin drip to keep her blood sugar as low as possible. They also have her on Heparin to keep her blood thin so there are no clots. The blood sugar is to be kept very low because they want the freshly tranplanted islet cells to rest as long as possible so that they can take up new residence in the liver. They will also be monitoring liver tests, and hemoglobin every hour or two to check liver function and to check for internal bleeding. We should know more about how things will be by morning and things should be more stable by sun-up. I am sitting her beside her thanking our God once again for His blessing on her and praying (along with hundreds of others) that He will continue to watch over her and protect even tiniest cells in her body. She will keep the nasogastric tube, the drainage tube in her incision and the central line in her neck for a few days at least and it will be several days before she can eat again. As i type she is pushing her pain medication button at least once every 30 seconds and seems to be hurting a lot. Nurses say tonight and tomorrow will be the worst so please pray God will continue to comfort Lacey. On a lighter note, the doctor did manage to get some good pics of the pancreas with knife in it, as Lacey had requested. He is gonna email them to us so keep a watch for those. We will celebrate the removal together. Thank each of you for praying. God is amazing and i can say that because i am experiencing God in a way that i have never before. He has truly changed my life through this experience.

  4. Your family is in my prayers, and what an amazing testimony you have! You could have chosen to blame God for this suffering but instead you glorify Him!
